May 2, 2013
Roll call was answered by "Your next sewing project?"
We had two new members join the guild: Karen Taylor and Sue Ostlie.
Officers for the new year were elected. Nancy encouraged everyone to sign up for committees, program, and hospitality so that the new books could be prepared before the next meeting.
Becky announced that the donation committee was working on the quilt, and that we would not be having a guild work night for that project.
On June 19, there will be an extension trip to Rogers and Siloam Springs, Arkansas, to some quilt shops. There is no cost for the trip, but you are responsible for your own lunch and purchases. The trip is currently full, but call the extension office to see about going.
The July meeting of guild will be one week later (July 11) so that everyone can celebrate the Fourth of July.

CHALLENGE PROJECT
Kyle Ludwig came from the extension office to judge the challenge projects.

Rules for the challenge:
1.  You can only use one color.
2.  It must be smaller than 20" by 20".
3.  It must be quilted and the edges must be finished.

The winner was Gloria, who received a $25 gift certificate to the bin.
Her piece featured hexagons and hand embroidery.
Nancy chose green for her challenge project.
Ruth made a purple bag and billfold.
Mary Ann made a small quilt using red and a heart.
Nita made a farm scene using blue.
Peggy used blue for her challenge project.
Dorthy used blue for her paper piecing project.

BLOCK OF THE MONTH
Gloria won the BOM with her journal cover

SHOW AND TELL
Gloria made a hand-embroidered piece of redwork.
Nancy made a small quilt from scraps for a challenge project for the Go Retreat.

Refreshments were enjoyed by all.
