The Itchin' for Stitchin' Guild welcomed in the New Year with their January meeting. Roll call was answered by "Your favorite time of day to sew."
Nancy announced that she would have a UFO Sewing night on January 3, starting at 3:00 pm.
Nancy told us that the computer program with our previous program books had been lost, and a new format would have to be developed. If anyone has suggestions for any changes, they should contact a member of the Program Book Committee.
Donation Committee: Gloria read a thank-you note from one of the recipients of our Christmas Donation Basket. Karen Taylor reported the other family had very much appreciated their basket as well. It was nice to know that we had really helped to make a better Christmas Season for others.
Fund Raising Committee: Carolyn reminded everyone that next month is the guild auction. Please bring items that you wish to donate for auction. Also--bring any friends and a full pocketbook.
Block of the Month
There were ten members that participated in the Hot Pad Swap.
The hot pads were placed in a bag and drawn out by all those that had made one.
The next BOM will be a cloth checkerboard. Patterns were handed out and are available at the bin. This project will be due in March.
SHOW AND TELL
Carolyn showed us some tea towels that she had appliqued.
Carolyn also embroidered a tea towel to be used as a git.
She also appliqued a butterfly onto a sweatshirt.
Gloria showed us a Christmas tree that she had made with 19 yo-yo's that were
different sizes and materials.
She will bring the yo-yo size patterns to the bin.
Linda showed us a bag that she had made from a Simplicity pattern.
Becky showed us a project bag that she had made at a serger class at the Sewing Expo in Overland Park.
PROGRAM
Karen O'Brien demonstrated how to use Fabric Paint Sticks. These are oil-based paints that you can add to fabric using stencils and rubbings.
The meeting was adjourned and refreshments were served by Carolyn and Karen O'Brien.
