November 1, 2012
President Nita Billman presided over the November meeting of the Itchin' for Stitchin' Guild. Roll call was "Something I am thankful for", 15 members were present.
The Christmas committee would like members to RSVP for the Christmas Party by emailing Nancy or contacting one of the committee members.
Members are asked to bring non-perishable food items for the adopted family to the next meeting.
Becky asked that items to be sold at the auction be brought to the January meeting.
Nancy said that the next block swap would begin in January and to let her know if you want to participate.

October 4, 2012
The October meeting of the guild was a work night for our donation quilts given to an adopted family at Christmas. We worked on sewing three ragtime quilts.  Many of the homespun and denim squares had already been cut using the Accuquilt Go Cutter.  We worked to sew the squares with the batting.  By the end of the evening, we were beginning to piece the quilts together.
It was a very busy evening, but we didn't quite finish.  Another work night to finish these donation quilts will be October 15 at 5:00.
The donation committee announced that everyone should bring non-perishable food items too. Mary Ann was going to check on the ages of the children of the family, so that we could decide about giving any toys with our quilts and food box.

Gloria donated a quilt top to the project to use as the gift for the parents.  Mary Ann and Tammy worked to get that quilted.
A short business meeting was held.

The Christmas party committee reminded us that the gift exchange item should be something homemade.

Independence and Coffeyville guilds have scheduled the Hoffman Trunk Show in April.  They have asked if we want to get the quilts for an evening, and have our own show.  That discussion was tabled until the December meeting.

The guild fund raising auction will be in February.  Everyone is asked to keep that in mind, and begin collecting items to sell.  It would also be nice to have some homemade items to sell at the auction.

Nancy announced that a meeting would be held October 22 at 6:00 pm at the bin for all people interested in a Blooming 9-Patch class.

SHOW AND TELL
Peggy showed us some French Braid table runners that she had made.

BLOCK OF THE MONTH
Nita, Betty, and Peggy had made the quilt-as-you go table runners for this month's BOM.  Peggy was the winner of the BOM prize.

The BOM project for next month is a decorated tea towel.  Instructions were handed out for adding the scalloped border and rick rack trim.  These would make great Christmas gifts.  Carolyn showed three different tea towels as examples.

We enjoyed good food all evening. We had homemade potato soup, tortilla roll-ups, BBQ wienies, green salad, and many other treats.  It was a good night of sewing, eating, and friends working together for a worthy cause.

The Christmas Party committee requests that the items for the Christmas exchange should be homemade. Everyone is to bring finger food to the Christmas Party, which will begin at 6:30 on December 6.
Karen Boehner showed us the items that the WARM Company had sent, which included batting information and samples.
