10th Anniversary Party!
On June 5, 2014 we celebrated the 10th anniversary of the Itchin for Stitchin guild. Five of the original founding members (Nancy Kessler, Rita Foster, Tammy Goodyear, MaryAnn Vanderford and Karen Barnett) are still with the guild. We appreciate the work these ladies have put into the guild so that we get to be a part of it today. Thanks also go to those who have been a part of the guild in years past and kept it going.
There were no committee reports or business meeting this month so we could get straight to celebrating. We did take time to ooh and aah over projects various members displayed.
Linda Holtzman showed a twisted bargello and a red, white and blue diagonal patch.
Gloria Eaton displayed a framed quilted flower and a miniature quilt
Peggy Reynolds finished a shop hop quilt, a throw from the recent serger class, as well as a block of the month that was interrupted by the tornado that hit Joplin.
Nita Billmam got creative with the leftover pieces from a block swap.
MaryAnn Vanderford showed a paper pieced wall hanging.
Nancy Kessler finished a quilt made using accuquilt dies. She also finished a scrappy quilt composed of 2 1/2" and 1 1/2" squares.
The decorations were lovely and the food truly a treat. Karen Taylor did a fantastic job preparing the food.
The educational part of the party was a presentation by Martha Flanigan from the Cherokee County Extension Office. She talked about ways to add bling to our clothing and our quilts. Who doesn't love a little sparkle?
The next block of the month was shown by Nancy. Pattern and instructions are available at the Bin.
A paper piecing class will be taught by MaryAnn Vanderford. Cost is $25. $10 deposit holds your spot. Cost includes pattern and class, but not fabric. Further information can be found at the Bin.
It was a wonderful party. We appreciate all the past and present members who helped us celebrate. Until next month keep those projects coming!
