April 5, 2012

The theme for the May meeting of the Itchin' for Stitchin' Guild was "PICNIC." The tables were beautifully decorated with old quilts for tablecloths, picnic baskets, and mason jars filled with fresh flowers.
We enjoyed fried chicken, potato salad, fresh vegetables, fresh strawberries, and cupcakes.

We had a short business meeting. Nancy announced that next month we would be electing new officers. If anyone wants to be an officer or have a specific committee job, they need to contact Tammy Goodyear.

Nancy also told us that she had been contacted about a quilt show in Mound Valley on June 23. That group would like us to participate in their event.

Karen's recipe for the
cupcake filling:
2- 8 oz. cream cheese
1 egg
2/3 c. sugar
Cream these ingredients together, then add mini chocolate chips to taste.
Add enough cake batter to cupcake liner to cover bottom,
add 1 T. of the cream cheese mixture,
cover with cake batter.
Bake as directed on batter instructions.

Tammy Reynolds was the chairperson for the
Picnic. Serving on the committee were Becky Hellwig, Karen O'Brien, and Carolyn Green.

SHOW AND TELL

For show and tell, Peggy Wintjen showed us a block of the month quilt and a Christmas string quilt.

Ruth Lavender showed us her pillow she made using the block from the Donna Thomas Workshop.

Elsie Vail brought us a piece of embroidery that she found in her stash of crafts. It was undecided exactly what kind of embroidery was in the piece.

Joan Gartner brought hotpads that she made, as well as a quilt as-you-go table runner. Joan handpainted the flowers in the center of the tablerunner.

All in all, the picnic was a success. Everyone enjoyed the decorations, the food, the trunk show, and an evening with fabric and friends.
