May 1, 2014
The May meeting of the guild was called to order by President Gloria Eaton.  We had no guests.  Roll call was answered by "Who would you like to have as a guest speaker/instructor?"

Nancy announced that there are several opportunities for projects and classes coming up:

  • Cherokee County Quilt Program "Techniques of Modern Quilting"- May 13
  • Beginner Embroider class by Sara Thompson
  • Quilt-as-you go class by Sara Thompson
  • Round Robin by guild member
Those interested were asked to sign up so that plans could be made.

The officer slate for 2014-2015 was presented by Gloria.  A motion was made to accept these nominations: They are:

  • President- Tammy Goodyear
  • Vice President- Rita Foster
  • Secretary- Peggy Wintjen
  • Treasurer- Betty Schneickert
  • Newsletter- Becky Hellwig
  • Program- Nancy Kessler
  • Hospitality- Karen Taylor
  • Historian- Kylie Ludwig
  • Blog- Tammy Reynolds
The guild's new year starts in June.  Members were asked to pay their dues and sign up for committees, programs, and hospitality.

Committee Reports
Mary Ann reported that next month will mark the guild's tenth year anniversary.  A celebration is being planned for the June meeting.

BOM for 2014-2015
Nancy explained the BOM program for next year.  It will be a 12 month project to make a 56" x 70" quilt with blocks made with the Go Cutter or Go-baby.

SHOW AND TELL

Tammy Reynolds showed us the two quilts that she had made for graduation gifts for her nephews.  The pattern is called "Labyrinth."



Ruth showed us the Drunkard's path quilt that she made.
Ruth also made a Chevron Pattern Quilt for he great granddaughter.
Rita made a quilt for her great nephew,
and a table runner for her granddaughter.
Gloria showed us the miniature quilt that she had made from antique flour sacks and pieces of lace.  Everything in it is recycled.

Refreshments were enjoyed by all.
