September 5, 2013
The meeting was called to order by President Gloria Eaton. Roll call was answered by "My favorite color to use in a quilt."  We had three guests: Rita's grandchildren-Sydney, Shelby, and Gavin.
Minutes were read and approved.  Nancy reported that Kylie had taken the alphabet & letter blocks to the three pre-schools.  The teachers were very appreciative, and a thank-you letter from the Altamont pre-school was read to the group.

Tammy Goodyear showed us the donation quilt that has been put together using last month's BOM blocks.  This will be completed and given to an adopted family at Christmas.

The Donna Thomas workshop was enjoyed by all that attended. We learned to use a new ruler to offset blocks.   Tammy, Linda, Peggy, and Dorthy show off their completed split geese blocks.

BLOCK OF THE MONTH
There were four completed blocks for this month's BOM.  Rita won the drawing.

Next month's BOM is a candy corn table runner.  Nita passed out the instructions.   The color copy of instructions is at the bin to look at.

SHOW AND TELL
Gavin Foster showed us his potholder.  He is only four years old!!

Shelby Blackburn showed us the table runner that she had made for the fair.Shelby is 9 years old.
Shelby also modeled the dress that she made.  She received a Champion on the fair for her sewing.

Sydney Foster showed us the table runner that she made that featured cardinals. Sydney is 7 years old.
Sydney also showed us her quilt that she made.  It was fantastic!!
We all really enjoyed having the kids there and showing us their work.  They were an inspiration that someone so young could do such good work and have such enthusiasm.

SHOW AND TELL
Nita showed us her baby quilt using the pattern 100 hugs.  She made for this for her new great-granddaughter that will be born this month.
Ruth showed us her finished chisel quilt.  She used the GO Cutter to cut her pieces.

PROGRAM
Peggy Wintjen showed us how to make the Double Hourglass Table runner for the program.  You start by sewing strip sets together in a tube and then cutting triangle shaped pieces. It was a very informative talk and gave us some good ideas for gifts.

Next month was scheduled to be a work night for the donation quilts.  Since we already have that taken care of, it will be a regular meeting.  The donation committee will take care of the program and refreshments.

We all enjoyed cheese & crackers and wonderful carrot cake for refreshments.
