July 11, 2013
Roll Call was answered by "How did you celebrate the Fourth of July?" Taylor Vanderford, Mary Ann's granddaughter was our guest.
Nancy announced that the extension office is planning a trip to the Kansas City Sewing Expo on November 22.  There is a $10 fee to pay for the ticket.  If they get 30 people signed up, each person will get a bag, a pen, and a free class.
The quilt top for the fund raiser is pieced, and just needs to be quilted.
The donation committee planned a work night to work on 9" denim squares with the alphabet and numbers for three area pre-schools.
BOM
Nancy showed us the pattern for next month's BOMl.  It is a Windmills at Night pattern. The instructions can be found at http://suzyssitcom.com/2013/03/quilt-pattern-series.html
The group decided that everyone made this block in black and white prints, it could be used as a donation quilt at Christmas time for a needy family.

Mary Ann gave a very interesting program using chalkboard fabric.  She told us that you must first prime your fabric with chalk, and then it sews easily with the sewing machine.  She showed us many ways to use the fabric with some child-friendly patterns.
