March 7, 2013
The March meeting of the guild was a work night for the opportunity quilt. We started early and sewed, and pressed, and cut quilt pieces for the quilt that will be used to raise funds for the guild. We also ate some really good snacks and grilled cheese sandwiches.
We also had a short business meeting.
Ashley McCoy from the Coffeyville Guild told us about the Material Girls Quilt Show. It will be held Saturday, April 20 from 9 am - 5 pm at the Grace Fellowship Church in Coffeyville. There will be a bed turning at 10:30 am and 3:30 pm. The show will also include demonstrations and have merchandise for sale.
Spring Tea committee report: Next month is the spring tea. The committee will provide the food. It will begin at 6:30pm. The guest speaker will be Nancy Hamilton, who will speak about wool. Please RSVP so that the committee can prepare.
Becky announced that there would be another work night for the opportunity quilt, but no date has been set.
Nancy talked about the retreat in Thayer, with a list of items to bring.
BLOCK OF THE MONTH
The March BOM was to make two snail's trail blocks, using white-on-white and blue. 40 blocks were made by a variety of members. They looked really good, and will make a pretty quilt. Carolyn will take the blocks and make them into a throw to be auctioned off at next year's auction. Ruth won the drawing.

Reminder: Please be working on your challenge project. They are due at the May meeting.
