The December meeting of the guild was the Christmas party. The Committee did a wonderful job. They provided a nice dinner for everyone, made pincushion favors, and decorated the tables beautifully. A gift exchange of homemade items was enjoyed by all.

Roll call was answered by "How many people are you having at Thanksgiving? Tammy Goodyear answered with the largest number.
We started the evening with the program by Julie Traxson. She had invited Hannah and Layla Bradfield to show off the projects that they had made at Sewing Camp held last summer in Girard. The girls went to camp Monday-Friday every morning. They learned about sewing equipment, hand stitching, and using the sewing machine. Labette County extension is planning a similar camp next summer. The theme will be "Around the World." Sewing materials and volunteers will be needed.
Both girls made a pillow that featured clear plastic over aquatic cut-outs.

Committee Reports
Christmas Party: The Christmas Party will be at next month's meeting. It will start at 6:00 pm. Bring a homemade item for the gift exchange if you want to participate.
Fund Raiser: We sold 303 tickets for the drawing for the Sparkle Punch quilt. Brenda Smith won the drawing.
Spring Tea: The guild voted to have the Hoffman Challenge Trunk Show at the Spring Tea.
Donation Committee: Tammy Goodyear asked that we bring non-perishable foot items by the December meeting for our donation baskets.
Nancy took the baby quilts to Paula Kastler that will be used for the baskets at Hannah's Promise.. Paula sent a nice thank-you note.
Peggy told us that Kathy Evans had made 24 embroidered labels for the guild to use for labeling our quilts. Thank you Kathy!!!
BLOCK OF THE MONTH
Gloria and Peggy participated in the BOM. Gloria won the drawing and received a gel marking pen
The next BOM is a pot holder. You can make any pattern, no larger than 12" square. They are due at the January meeting. Nita will arrange a swap for the ones who participate.
SHOW AND TELL
Becky made a jelly roll race quilt to be raffled off at Labette Health's Relay for Life team.
Nita made a quilt using the Sedon block
Peggy showed us her Dr. Who Phone Booth quilt which she designed and created for her granddaughter.
Peggy also showed us her deer quilt made from a panel for her grandson.
Tammy Reynolds us brought her Quilt as you go jacket made from strips of material sewn on a sweatshirt.
Karen O'Brien brought several items that she made including a decorated tea towel, a recycled item,and an apron. She also showed us some of the items that she had made while attending a Martha Pullen workshop.
Gloria showed us her log cabin star quilt made with 3/4' strips.
Peggy showed us samples of the 32 "kitchen quilts" that she made. We were so interested, that she gave a demonstration of how they were put together. She found the instructions on the internet by looking up
Potholders and Kitchen Quilts with Kaye Wood on you-tube.
Refreshments were served and enjoyed by all.

The meeting was called to order by Gloria Eaton, President.
Nancy explained the Best Choice fund raising program. For every 1000 Best Choice UPC Labels that we send in, we will receive $30.00. We also have a coupon for an extra $30 for the first 1000 that we send in. So everybody start saving those labels!!
Nancy had a letter from Paula Kastler who is organizing baskets with baby items for the Hannah's Promise program in Parsons. Paula has asked for 10 baby quilts by November. Several members volunteered to make quilts for this cause. Size should be about 38" x 45"

Christmas Party: Ruth asked that everyone bring a homemade item for the Christmas gift exchange.
FUND RAISER QUILT
Becky showed us the completed quilt that will be used as a fund raiser. Donation tickets are $1 each for a chance of winning the quilt. She challenged all guild members to sell at least 20 tickets. The drawing will be at the November guild meeting. The quilt is 60" x 70".
DONATION QUILTS
Tammy and Gloria show off the completed quilt that will be used for donation at Christmas. It was made using the BOM quilt blocks.
Tammy asked guild members to bring non-perishable food items that can be used to make food baskets for Christmas gift baskets.
Nita showed us the quilt top that Rhonda Heston has donated for use as a donation quilt.
BLOCK OF THE MONTH
There were two candy corn table runners for the BOM. Mary Ann won the drawing.
Next month's BOM is the Poinsettia Wall Quilt.
SHOW AND TELL
Peggy brought her l/2 yard challenge quilt that she made for her granddaughter.
Peggy also showed us this lime green and black quilt made from a Fons & Porter pattern.
Mary Ann showed us the trick-or-treat bags that she had made.
PROGRAM
Nancy presented the program on decolorant. You paint it on, let it dry in the sun or heat set it with an embossing heat gun. There is also a decolorant plus, that adds color.

The meeting was called to order by President Gloria Eaton. Roll call was answered by "My favorite color to use in a quilt." We had three guests: Rita's grandchildren-Sydney, Shelby, and Gavin.
Minutes were read and approved. Nancy reported that Kylie had taken the alphabet & letter blocks to the three pre-schools. The teachers were very appreciative, and a thank-you letter from the Altamont pre-school was read to the group.
Tammy Goodyear showed us the donation quilt that has been put together using last month's BOM blocks. This will be completed and given to an adopted family at Christmas.
The Donna Thomas workshop was enjoyed by all that attended. We learned to use a new ruler to offset blocks. Tammy, Linda, Peggy, and Dorthy show off their completed split geese blocks.
BLOCK OF THE MONTH
There were four completed blocks for this month's BOM. Rita won the drawing.
Next month's BOM is a candy corn table runner. Nita passed out the instructions. The color copy of instructions is at the bin to look at.

Gavin Foster showed us his potholder. He is only four years old!!
Shelby Blackburn showed us the table runner that she had made for the fair.Shelby is 9 years old.
Shelby also modeled the dress that she made. She received a Champion on the fair for her sewing.
Sydney Foster showed us the table runner that she made that featured cardinals. Sydney is 7 years old.
Sydney also showed us her quilt that she made. It was fantastic!!
We all really enjoyed having the kids there and showing us their work. They were an inspiration that someone so young could do such good work and have such enthusiasm.
SHOW AND TELL
Nita showed us her baby quilt using the pattern 100 hugs. She made for this for her new great-granddaughter that will be born this month.
Ruth showed us her finished chisel quilt. She used the GO Cutter to cut her pieces.
PROGRAM
Peggy Wintjen showed us how to make the Double Hourglass Table runner for the program. You start by sewing strip sets together in a tube and then cutting triangle shaped pieces. It was a very informative talk and gave us some good ideas for gifts.
Next month was scheduled to be a work night for the donation quilts. Since we already have that taken care of, it will be a regular meeting. The donation committee will take care of the program and refreshments.
We all enjoyed cheese & crackers and wonderful carrot cake for refreshments.

Roll call was answered by "How many exhibits did you take to the Labette County Fair?" Although a lot of members did not take any exhibits, the total for the group was over 50 exhibits. To encourage more participation, Nancy announced that she would give a little prize to anyone that took an exhibit to the fair
next year.
Committee Reports:
- The donation quilt top is done, and it needs to be quilted.
- Tammy Goodyear told us that the alphabet & number blocks made with applique on 9" denim squares are done for the three area pre-schools. They will be put in storage boxes and delivered soon.
Sign-up is still going on at the extension office for the trip to the sewing expo in Kansas City on
November 22. You must pay your $10 to get your name on the list and reserve your spot in the van.
The Donna Thomas workshop is coming on August 24. A sign-up sheet was passed around to bring soup, sandwiches, or dessert. There are still available spots to take the class on using her new ruler.
BOM
There were eleven blocks made for BOM this time.
Carolyn Green won the drawing,The prize was a quick quarter quilter's ruler.

SHOW AND TELL
Dorthy Bath showed us the cutest little onesie with an added fabric skirt that she had made for a new granddaughter. She had serged all the fabric edges so that it will not fray when washed.
It was adorable!
