Labette County Fair 2012
 There were 13 prayer flags displayed at the fair made by the guild members.


August 2, 2012
Vice President, Gloria Eaton called the meeting to order.  Roll Call was answered by "Your Favorite Sewing Tool?"
In committee reports, the fundraiser committee reported that they would like everyone to start thinking about the spring auction. They would like members to make items to sell, such as table runners.
For the Guild Christmas party, the exchange item must be something homemade. It could be a sewn item, baked item, etc.
BLOCK OF THE MONTH
Carolyn Green presented next months block of the month project.
 It is an embroidery pincushion that sits in a tart pan.


Ten members made pillowcases for the Block of the Month for August.  Nancy Kessler,  Rita Foster, Tammy Reynolds, and Betty McKinney show off their colorful pillowcases.

Mary Ann Vanderford, Ruth Lavender, Linda Holtzman, and Gloria Eaton  give us a look at their pillowcases.

SHOW AND TELL

Arleen McKinney showed use her "necessary bags" with pockets  that she has made to transport her rug hooking projects.
Linda Holtzman showed her quick table runner and her potholders.


For our program, we had a special guest.  Kristi Kellerman, from Neodesha, came to tell us about Swedish Weaving.  This is a technique that has been around since the 17th century.  It uses monk's cloth and a special needle called a bobbit.
